Extremely easy cutting MagicDrill DRA - even in challenging materials

MagicDrill DRA is an economical, flexible and efficient drill series from Kyocera designed to meet the changing needs of precision drilling in the metal industry. With its unique geometry, drilling takes place with extremely low cutting forces, which significantly reduces heat generation and thus significantly increases tool life. Featuring integrated cooling channels and a choice of 5 different drill tips, the DRA series ensures high performance in a wide variety of applications and materials such as steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant and heat-resistant superalloys.

Easy mounting and modification

There are 5 different insert types for the DRA series and the desired variant is easily mounted at the end of the drill body by tightening a single screw. When the insert is worn or you want to modify the insert for a different application, you can simply replace the insert - and not the entire drill body - for an obvious economic advantage. This means that MagicDrill DRA not only gives you flexibility and improved productivity but also minimises the cost of stocked tools.

The DRA series is available in dimensions Ø7.94 - 33.0 mm in 1.5xD, 3xD, 5xD, 8xD and 12xD. Several variants of the drill body are equipped with innovative chip channel designs that contribute to smooth and efficient chip evacuation but also give DRA MagicDrill a stronger design that is up to 20% stronger than competing drill solutions. The stronger construction results in less vibration and reduced deflection, which ultimately results in greater performance and smooth surfaces. Drill body shank available as straight shank or flanged shank.

Unique insert design

The 5 insert types are available with PR1525 and PR1535 coating types, making the drill suitable for a wide range of materials. Combined with the unique S-curve geometry of the tips, which makes the solution extremely easy to cut - thus reducing heat generation - it significantly increases tool life. The result is less noise, great finish, long tool life, good chip control and stable process.

 

 

Five insert types: GM, HQP, HQS, FTP og FTP-H
  • GM = General machining
  • HQP = High precision in steel - double margin type
  • HQS = For stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys
  • FTP = Designed for counterboring with minimal burrs
  • FTP-H = Developed for steel beam counterboring.
